Not every child’s head shape looks precisely the same. But as kids grow, a misshapen head could be a signal of a condition that needs cranial helmet therapy to rectify. Deformational plagiocephaly refers to the occurrence of an asymmetrical head-shape or a misshapen. If your child is diagnosed with scaphocephaly, brachycephaly or deformational plagiocephaly and is less than one year old, cranial helmets remolding may be prescribed to adjust the shape of your baby’ s head.
However, cranial helmets must be prescribed by a licensed doctor. It is crucial to note that all children are candidates for cranial helmets, and it is essential to discuss with your physician. Besides, children who have undergone the endoscopy process to rectify craniosynostosis will normally be prescribed cranial after surgery to further adjust the shape of their head.
