Custom Cranial Helmet Therapy for Infants with Flat Head (Plagiocephaly)
From your baby’s first evaluation to reaching every developmental milestone, Restorative Prosthetics & Orthotics provides expert cranial helmet therapy and pediatric care with over 20 years of experience.
Does My Baby Need A Cranial Helmet?
Cranial helmets, used for flat head syndrome or plagiocephaly, gently guide your baby’s head growth to correct flattening during early development.
Not every baby needs a helmet. Our specialists evaluate your child’s head shape and provide an honest recommendation during your free consultation. We also provide post-surgical helmet therapy for children who have undergone endoscopic surgery for craniosynostosis.
Medical necessity must be determined by a licensed physician, who provides the prescription if treatment is recommended.
What Conditions Do cranial Helmets Treat?
Cranial remolding therapy may be recommended for babies diagnosed with:
Plagiocephaly
Flattening on one side of the back or side of the skull.
Brachycephaly
Flattening across the back of the skull, causing the head to appear wider and shorter.
This often occurs when babies sleep on their backs following safe sleep guidelines — this is not your fault.
Scaphocephaly
The skull grows longer and narrower than typical.
Post-Operative Craniosynostosis Care
Helmet therapy is often prescribed after corrective surgery to guide skull growth during recovery.
Our pediatric specialists also provide pediatric orthotics and prosthetic care, supporting children and families through every stage of development.
When Is The Best Age For A Cranial Helmet?
The earlier treatment begins, the better the results tend to be. Many babies outside the ideal window can still benefit, and we will always provide a recommendation based on the clinical assessment.
